"Koom" means Dream in Korean. The founder of Noom, Mr. Jung, hosted this event in October for Korean startups in the US, either from Korea or the US, as he had his own inspiring journey of success. A young Korean who spoke no English decided the US was where his future would be and pursued it with $500 in his pocket. Now, it's asset is estimated to be in the multi-billions.
It was a noble act to help other startups by bringing a line of great, successful Korean business leaders from around the world in various fields who started from the ground up to inspire, mixing with K-Pop, culture, food, AI, and Soul to unite us all for a higher calling to serve for benefiting abroad in the HONGIK spirit, beyond ourselves, as written in the Korean Constitution.
Here, I share just a few in much shorter versions for you to Find Courage and Rise Up to your Possibilities and Protentional, as Life is for Doers! Let's Sketch your Dream Now!!
CEO of MCM: Ms. Kim left her family fortune for the sake of her freedom and independence by refusing a set-up marriage. She came to NY and earned her living by working as a clerk at Bloomingdale's on the floor. She said it felt like owning the world to finally buy her beat-up car with her own money in freedom. She pointed out that "Timing" is the most important factor for success, as it's equally given to everyone, but the awakened one catches the glimpse of changes and trends to lead.
Founder of SnowFox kimbap: Mr. Kim started as a small sushi shop supplying to four marts. Then, he got to own one of the marts with a loan from the owner. When an opportunity arose to manage 1/4 of the Kroger markets in the US, he developed it to work with all the US markets, eventually becoming a multimillionaire. He expressed,
your scale of Vision and Imagination dictates your growth and future. Every year, he writes his vision on a small business card and put it where can be seen everyday to remind him and crosses each out when completed.
Founder of WebToon: Mr. Kim worked on the side at his own expense to develop toons for over 20 years while he was working as a developer at Naver, a Korean search platform considered the "Korean Google." His motivation to continue working on toons was out of his pure love for them. When he couldn't find any more new toons to read, he decided to create his own, as nothing else made him genuinely happy in his life. So, over 36 years before its glorious success was not a dragging investment but an indulgence. Naturally, he shouted out "Do what makes you happy!"
